Selling your Property & Repaying the Equity Loan

If you wish to sell your property, you will be required to get a valuation of the property from a qualified RICS surveyor, and repay the AFHOS Equity Loan on completion of the sale.

The examples below show the redemption figure based on a property initially purchased for £200,000 with an Equity Loan of £50,000 (25%).  However, at the time of sale the property has been valued at £250,000.

A property cannot be sold for less than the valuation but can be sold for more than the valuation.

Two examples are shown below:

Original Purchase Price£200,000
Original AFHOS Equity Loan (25%)£50,000
Valuation of Property at time of sale£250,000
Example 1:
   Sale Price (same as valuation)£250,000
Equity Loan to be repaid on sale of property (25%)£62,500
Example 2:
   Sale Price (higher than valuation)£275,000
Equity Loan to be repaid on sale of property (25%)£68,750
