Selling your Property & Repaying the Equity Loan
If you wish to sell your property, you will be required to get a valuation of the property from a qualified RICS surveyor, and repay the AFHOS Equity Loan on completion of the sale.
The examples below show the redemption figure based on a property initially purchased for £200,000 with an Equity Loan of £50,000 (25%). However, at the time of sale the property has been valued at £250,000.
A property cannot be sold for less than the valuation but can be sold for more than the valuation.
Two examples are shown below:
| Original Purchase Price | £200,000 |
| Original AFHOS Equity Loan (25%) | £50,000 |
| Valuation of Property at time of sale | £250,000 |
| Example 1: | |
| Sale Price (same as valuation) | £250,000 |
| Equity Loan to be repaid on sale of property (25%) | £62,500 |
| Example 2: | |
| Sale Price (higher than valuation) | £275,000 |
| Equity Loan to be repaid on sale of property (25%) | £68,750 |
