Subletting

A key feature of this scheme is a requirement to enable regular serving members of the British Armed Forces to sublet their home from day one. Regular serving members of the British Armed Forces will be required to declare an intention to live in the home at the point of purchase. However, subletting would be permitted due to UK or overseas posting commitments. You would need to obtain approval from your mortgage lender for subletting since there could be a penalty to pay. Your financial advisor can discuss this when first arranging your mortgage. You should be aware that there may be taxation liabilities arising from subletting a property and earning an income as a result of having received assistance through this scheme. You should seek your own independent advice in respect of the taxation liability. If you sublet your home you will also require the consent of Swaythling Housing Society Ltd.

Annual charge - £200
